Head and neck cancer
Head and neck cancers are rare. The following areas may be affected:
- eye,
- nose,
- tongue,
- mouth,
- salivary glands,
- lip,
- larynx,
- thyroid,
- oropharynx and
- middle ear.
The larynx is the most common site, and a similar number of thyroid cancers are diagnosed.
As with many types of cancer the risk of developing a head and neck cancer increases as people get older, and it is mostly diagnosed in people over 50.
