New Sussex website for people affected by cancer

The Sussex Cancer Network has launched a new patient information website for people affected by cancer at www.sussexcancer.nhs.uk.

The website has been designed to improve access to information on issues of concern identified by patients, carers, family members and clinical staff across Sussex and is one of the outcomes of a project funded by Macmillan Cancer Support.

John Benstead, cancer patient and member of Sussex Cancer Network Partnership Group, said:"I was asked to test the site. I also asked my wife to look at it.  We both found it easy to find the information we were looking for and are sure that this will be a real benefit to cancer patients and their families."

The site features sections on financial advice, emotional support, diet, travel, complementary therapies, and provides details of self-help and support groups – both local to Sussex as well as on-line national groups.

Caroline Huff, Macmillan Sussex Cancer Network nurse director, said: “We sincerely thank all the patients, their friends, family members and clinical staff who have taken part in our discussion groups and made a real contribution to improving cancer patient information in Sussex.  Some information needs are common to all cancer patients, so our site links to high quality nationally produced information and websites as well as providing information about local cancer services. “

The Sussex Cancer Network welcomes feedback from the public about the web site or cancer services across Sussex.

We will welcome comments from all users of the site – what works well for you and what doesn’t, what changes or additions would you like to see?

If you have any thoughts or suggestions please let us know.
