Cancer Networks have developed since the NHS Breast Cancer Screening Programme was established in the late 1980's. In an ideal world they would overlap and be able to relate closely but this is not the case.
There are two programmes in Sussex:
Whilst East Sussex, Brighton & Hove Breast Screening Programme covers most of the Sussex Cancer Network population the West Sussex service needs to relate to three networks:
Both services relate to the South East Coast Quality Assurance Reference Centre.
County based groups, including programme staff, commissioners, public health and the Sussex Cancer Network, meet regularly.
