Sussex Cancer Research Network Aim:
To develop a strategy integrating cancer management across the trusts and increase patient recruitment into trials to 10% of the local population by 2005. Currently, Sussex recruits about 7% of the local population into cancer clinical trials.
Main objectives:
- To manage and develop the Sussex Cancer Research Network as part of the National Cancer Research Network (NCRN), in line with national and network objectives.
- To increase recruitment of patients into cancer clinical trials across the Sussex Cancer Research Network, by the appointment of appropriate research staff based in the Trusts.
- Management and co-ordination of clinical trial activity across the sussex cancer research network, including developing and maintaining a portfolio of national trials.
- Training and supervision of Research Network staff - 5 research nurses.
- Collection and dissemination of clinical trials throughout the sussex cancer research network.
The sussex cancer research network will ensure that all trials are performed in accordance with good clinical practice and within the Research Governance requirements.
