Many people can understand pictures better than words.

The Royal College of Psychiatrists have produced some excellent books and resources called Books Beyond Words (BBW) as a series of picture books that make communicating easier for these people, and enable discussion about difficult topics. There is also supporting text and guidelines for carers, supporters and professionals. The series is particularly useful for people with learning difficulties.

There is a book which is written about some one with learning difficulties who has a cancer experience.

There are various agencies in England that can offer support via the National help lines.

The Royal National Institute for Blind (RNIB) do not have any talking books on cancer but will offer help and advice and will link to Cancerbackup for specific cancer information.

Cancerbackup have an extensive range of audio tapes. To view the full range of the audio information look at the following link to Cancerbackup.

The National National Institute for the Deaf (RNID) have links to the British Sign Language (BSL) Association as they have produced a video to provide information about prostate cancer to BSL users.
