There may be times when you do not eat because you feel tired or sleepy. Below are some ways which can help you to still have a good nutritional intake, despite feeling tired.
Prepare meals at a time that you feel at your best. Try making a larger quantity of food than you would usually eat. Freeze the food that is left over into individual portions. Freeze once cool.
Allow family and friends to help you with the shopping and food preparation.
Request a supermarket with a home delivery service to send your groceries to you. There are companies which specialise in delivering prepared meals. Ask your dietician/nurse about these.
If you know in advance that you will be tired after a treatment, stock up with meals that are convenient.
You may find it easier to drink than eat. Try to have more nourishing drinks, e.g. milkshakes, yoghurt drinks, Complan or Build-up (available in sweet and savoury flavours from your chemist or supermarket). These should be made using whole milk.
Other supplement drinks can be obtained on prescription. Your doctor or dietician can advise you further.
