Support groups

Talking about illness may not be easy as a patient or carer, adult or child.

Support groups are for people with cancer, some groups are led by a health care professional. Some people find support groups very helpful, although this may not be the case for all.

It is quite usual for a group to include people with different types of cancer at different stages. This wider experience helps people see their own problems from a different perspective.

There are several good booklets and websites that may help at this difficult time.

Cancerbackup have written a book that contain practical advise to help patients talk about their feelings. This can be viewed on line or via Cancerbackup for a printed copy ( publications are free to pateins)

The National Cancer Alliance (America) has some helpful on line publications.

Macmillan Cancer Support offers help on line and by way of publications.
