Bereavement

Emotional support:

The death of someone we know is one of the most stressful events that we will ever experience; particularly if the person dying is someone we love.

There are local publications available that are written to help at this time. Please ask the key worker for a booklet.

It is important to know that the grief that follows a loss is not an illness, but a normal human journey during which the bereaved person adapts to living without their loved one.

The purpose of the booklets are to reassure about feelings that might be experienced, but also as a guide at this difficult time to decisions that have to be made, forms that need to be filled in and processes followed.

It is important that you have help with any thoughts and feelings which trouble you. Your district nurse, general practitioner or specialist nurse are there to support you and will be ready to talk about any concerns you may have.
