Bone marrow and stem cell transplantation

Bone marrow or stem cell transplants are necessary when the bone marrow is so diseased or damaged that it can no longer function normally.

Treatment can be for many different types of cancer, including leukaemia or a related cancer of the blood. The treatment is necessary when there is significant damage to the bone marrow following treatment.

There is a very helpful resource produced by the Leukaemia Research - called The Seven Steps by Michelle Kenyon

Patients from Sussex Cancer Centre are treated at either Kings College Hospital, London or University College Hospital, London.

See the Cancerhelp UK website for more information.
